Finished reading How I Write today. The absolute best part of the book was reading the mini-bios printed on the last six pages. The bios are organized alphabetically, but the essays are not. So if you want to match the essay to the bio some consultation of the index and page flipping are required. Excellent decision not to match them up. After reading an intriguing bio it is fun to page through the book and find the essay by the author in question.

My two favorites were the 1) cork board by Eric Anderson

“The artist and writer Eric Chase Anderson, left, with Stephen Sherrill, center, and James Hamilton.”

2) post-it notes by Will Self.

I also learned that Nicole Krauss wrote her PhD dissertation (Oxford) about Joseph Cornell.
